First of all, HAPPY VALENTINES DAY, to anyone who stops to see if I'm still perking along. I knew I had to come and derail this loooong holiday hiatus I've been on.
My good intentions about keeping my blog up to date have been buried under an avalance of holiday preparation, being a busy grandmother in the most literal sense, health issues that many grandparents go through at my age, and winter blues or blahs.
Actually, I've been cheating on my blog. (Shhhh, don't tell.) I'm one of millions of people on Facebook where I can relate to my daughter and son, and many other family and friends. Even there, I'm sometimes lucky to check in once a week.
I used to be an organized mother, homemaker, part-time librarian, church volunteer, photographer, writer, etc. Since I had to quit my much-loved part-time library job because of chronic pain it's been difficult to be disciplined about time--too much or too little depending on how many projects I get started at the same time.
You'd think I'd have a good handle on life by now, but sometimes it seems the handle just goes and slips through my hands and I get blindsided by unexpected tasks that cause me to slip and slide through my days. Losing a grip or focus throws me into a tailspin. IF (there's that big IF) my body and mind would just cooperate like it used to I'd be sailing smooth over calm waters. As has been said, growing older isn't for sissies. Sometimes I'm strong and ready to take on whatever comes my way, but other times I run and hide like a frightened puppy. Must have taken my eyes off the Lord again!
I promise myself I will focus, focus, focus. What a blessing to grasp the one handle that can bring peace, that is, God's Word and spending time in prayer and meditation with Him.
Our pastor finished a series on the Book of Esther today. The application of Esther's life is that we all have a purpose and a mission. We have a reason for being where we are, at just the right time. Esther was Queen at the time that the Jewish people needed someone to rescue them from annihilation. Esther's story is similar to Christ's. He came at just the right time to live and give His life for all people who reach for purpose and meaning in life. Pastor Dave challenged us to write a mission, or purpose, statement as to what we believe our purpose and mission is. Why am I here now? That's what I need to focus on this week.
God bless us all as we focus on our mission in a chaotic world.

I'm currently in a Bible study on Esther. I have also been contemplating on what my true purpose is. Sometimes I feel like I'm not doing much. I need to let God show me.
Hi, Glad you have not abandoned you blog 100%. :) I am not sure what I am suppose to be doing either. The word tells me to love God, love others, and serve him in what ever he places before me with a happy heart and let my light shine and to tell the world of his goodness. I am also one of the millions on facebook, and I can relate to your time problem. I found I need to have more balance in my week as to Bible study, blogging, art work ect.
Thanks, Donna and Dee, for stopping by and not giving up on me. I cherish all my blogger friends and enjoy hearing how you all perceive life. It's great to find Christian friends to chat with. God bless.
